Terms of Use

Short answer. Articles on Shop Energy Prices are general education. They are not an offer to sell electricity, not a quote, and not a substitute for the contract and the utility bill in front of you.

These terms were last reviewed on September 22, 2026.

No live prices

Retail supply offers and utility price-to-compare figures change. When a page mentions a U.S. Energy Information Administration average, it names the year or the month. Those national averages mix supply and delivery. They are not the price a supplier has to beat. Before you enroll, read the supplier’s contract, the Electricity Facts Label where Texas requires one, and the price to compare or default service price on your own bill.

Not the utility

Shop Energy Prices does not deliver electricity or gas, does not operate a grid, and does not decide a complaint. Outages go to the delivery utility named on your bill. Licensing complaints go to your state public utility commission. The homepage form, if you choose to use it, hands your contact details to a follow-up and then opens rates.jakenenergy.com, which is a separate site with its own terms.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for confirming that your address is in a choice territory, that the account is in your name, and that any early termination fee is acceptable. City pages name the usual delivery utility for that place and tell you to confirm it on the bill, because municipal islands and neighboring utilities do not share offers.

Acceptable use

You may read and share links to these pages. You may not copy the guides onto another site and present them as a rate sheet, and you may not scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other readers. The guides are provided as-is, without a warranty that a particular offer will save you money.
